Green tech financing

Helping to save the planet shouldn't cost the earth!

Finance can help spread the upfront cost into more manageable, affordable payments. Reduce the upfront payment for your solar panels, battery and heat pump to as little as £20.

How much might it cost me on a monthly basis?

That will depend on factors such as how much you borrow, and for how long.

The following examples are purely illustrative, but will give you some idea.  All loans are subject to affordability checks.

Finance FAQs

Which installers specialise in government backed green energy grants?
Arrow pointing right.

You probably need to think of this the other way round. What are the government’s requirements when it comes to providing grants from the public purse to householders. Installers don’t specialise in grants, they specialise in compliant and certified installations which then attract grants. All Thermly installers are pre-checked and MCS Certified, and are able to access the BUS grant on your behalf, if you’re eligible. Solar grants are available in some cases, but these are administered solely through local authorities, are for specific households with low incomes and/or are for certain locations or EPC rated properties. You’ll need to contact your local authority to see whether they can support your installation in this case.

Who offers financing options for heat pump installation?
Arrow pointing right.

Please visit www.thermly.co.uk/finance for more information on financing heat pumps.

Is this a secured or an unsecured loan?
Arrow pointing right.

Loan products vary and if you go through the application process you will be fully advised by your lender. In the case of Lendology, the key point to be aware of is that the lender will request a title restriction. This and lots of other questions are addressed in detail at %%link%%lendology.org.uk%%link%%.

Will I be able to borrow the full cost of my green tech package?
Arrow pointing right.

Possibly, but that is subject to a number of factors, for instance the outcome of affordability checks or maximum loan values that may be attached to loan products in particular geographies. The lender will be able to advise further as you go through the application process and you can review their website for %%link%%further details%%link%%.There may also - if you so choose - be options to borrow only a proportion of the full cost of your green tech package.

Am I guaranteed / pre qualified for loan finance through Thermly?
Arrow pointing right.

No. Access to finance is subject to status and affordability, and all customers who are interested in the financing option will go through an application process. That application process will be carried out by the lender, not by Thermly.

Is this the best loan product I can get for financing home retrofit?
Arrow pointing right.

Thermly is a broker, not a lender or a financial advisor. We are motivated by offering our customers access to lending partners who understand the sector and put their customers first. In our opinion, Lendology is best in class in this respect. However, Thermly does not purport to be a financial advisor, nor does it offer a comprehensive selection of all available loan products. This is therefore not a question we can answer for you.

Can you help me to complete my application?
Arrow pointing right.

Thermly would not be involved in any capacity during the loan application process, which would be conducted by the lender. Many lenders can now offer support, with your consent, during the application process, including Lendology. Details can be found %%link%%here%%link%%.

Will my credit history / track record count against me in applying for loan finance through Thermly?
Arrow pointing right.

All loan applications will be assessed on their merits. Access to finance is subject to status and affordability, and all customers who are interested in the financing option will go through an application process, inclusive of a credit search. That application process will be carried out by the lender, not by Thermly. As a social enterprise loan provider, when Lendology can’t provide a loan, they will do their best to signpost you to other support.

Does the loan finance get paid to you or to me?
Arrow pointing right.

Your Lendology Case Manager will talk you through this process, but the short answer is: to you. You then return to Thermly to pay your deposit and arrange installation dates.

Why do you not offer access to loan finance in all areas?
Arrow pointing right.

Please bear with us! We’re working hard to make the journey to sustainable energy - including financing options where appropriate - easy and the obvious choice for all UK homeowners. Offering access to finance is, quite rightly, a highly regulated activity and takes time to set up and do properly. We’ve made a great start with our Lendology partnership and - continuing that partnership wherever possible - we hope to be able to offer full national coverage for finance by the end of 2026.

How much will my monthly repayments be?
Arrow pointing right.

That depends on a number of factors - including the loan product interest rate, how much you borrow, and over what period of time. Illustrations will be provided on the Thermly platform as you progress through your journey - giving you an indication of how much monthly repayments will be. However any such illustrations are indicative and for information only - your loan provider will be able to give you a full and final answer to that question during the loan application process, and having carried out an assessment of your needs and means.

What fee or commission do Thermly get for introducing me to finance?
Arrow pointing right.

Nothing.

Can you help me to access available grants?
Arrow pointing right.

To the extent that your chosen green tech package includes technologies that are eligible for universal grants that must be applied for by an accredited (MCS) installer (currently up to £7,500 for air source heat pumps under the Government’s BUS scheme) that will be handled through your Thermly journey, with the installer completing the application on your behalf. In respect of any other discretionary or area specific grants, we would always advise that you approach your local Council in the first instance.

Do I have to own my house to apply for loan finance through Thermly?
Arrow pointing right.

Yes. Either own outright or through a mortgage. You will not be eligible if you rent your property.

Is Thermly a lender?

No, we’re not.

And there are a few things we absolutely have to make clear in that regard, namely:

1
Thermly Limited (FRN 1044641) is an Appointed Representative of Citrus Compliance. Citrus Compliance is a trading name of Andrew Smith, who is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 826675).
2
We act as a credit broker and not a lender.
3
We work exclusively with one credit provider, Lendology (Heatherton Park Studios, Bradford on Tone, Taunton TA4 1EU), and we only offer credit products from this provider.
4
We do not receive commission for introducing you to them.
5
Finance is subject to status and affordability. Available to UK homeowner residents aged 18 or over. Terms and conditions apply.

Who’s the lender then?

We’re proud to be working with Lendology CIC, a B Corp certified social enterprise loan provider, with a dual commitment to meaningful social impact and responsible finance solutions.

Lendology has real experience and expertise in providing funding for renewable energy technologies such as solar panels, batteries and heat pumps.  They work in partnership with local councils to offer tailored loan schemes based on where you live.

If you decide to apply for finance through Thermly, you’ll be taken to Lendology’s application process and assigned a dedicated Case Manager who will review your application and contact you in 2 working days.  Lendology’s review of your application for finance will include assessing your application, running an affordability check, and conducting a credit search to confirm loan affordability.
